This is an interesting large size ruby crystal. Its shows a fine tabular shape and present typical rhombohedral twinning. Its color range from light pink to reddish pink. Some areas are orange due to iron staining. The surface condition is fine with a good luster. The present crystal is coming from a hard rock mining area probably in the Dattaw district were pinkish ruby crystal are common. Sadly the crystal in not complete as it presents some minor broken areas. But this large piece is still a very interesting piece and will be a fine large sample in any collection. MK |
