Italy-based designers from around the world broke free of conventions and staid standards this year with creations of sublime expression and sinuous movement.
Pieces in the Design Gold Trends ’95 exhibition were grouped into three categories laid down by the World Gold Council as fashionable for the year. The essential line classified as daywear ranges from elegant chain links to geometrical lines. The eclectic series for evening wear is anti-conformist and daring with pieces of amusing shapes set with unusual gemstones. The final trend, Mediterranean or born-free jewelry, reflects the exotic and rural aspects of nature.
Of the latest creations displayed at VicenzaOro I, rings of varied shapes, predominantly crafted in shiny or satin-finishes with touches of twisted sheets or braided strands, were most popular. Necklaces were made of chained links or flexible modules.
