The jewelry trade center is a 55 storey building complex with160,000 square meters of office, apartment and retail space, in what is considered to be one of the most spectacular, ultra-modern, purpose built jewelry buildings in the world.
Location The Jewelry Trade Center will be located on Silom Rd., considered to be Thailand’s main central business district. It enjoys the largest single plot on Silom Road (approx 9 rai), accessed by 3 exit roads-Silom, Surasad, and Trok Vet. Access ability to the Jewelry Trade Center will be enhanced by a heliport and the scheduled construction of an express highway 1 ½ blocks away.
Planning for the future is a key element in the design and construction of the Jewelry Trade Center. Design features combine simplicity and elegance while permitting expression of individual requirements by investor tenants, such as flexible office and showroom design and layout.
Daylight lighting concerts. This is an extremely important feature in a building where gems & jewelry are traded, as daylight lighting is the optimum condition under which to evaluate and grade gems. The developers of the Jewelry Trade Center have integrated a lighting concept which places emphasis on the ideal lighting for all occupants of the building.
International gems bourse. Spearheading the Jewelry Trade Center will be the INTERNATIONAL GEMS BOURSE. Representing the international gem and jewelry industry, this body will be committed to the making of a competitive and profitable environment for the buying and selling of gems and jewelry, ensuring an efficient and dynamic flow of business transactions.
The Advisory Board of the Gems Bourse will be comprised of 35 prominent and influential figures from more than 15 countries. Additional Bourse members will be nominated by a special selection committee. Membership of the Bourse entitles one to a host of benefits, such as the GEMS FUNDS / GEMS EDPOSITORY MARKETING AND FINANCIAL SERVICES, providing expedited small business loans, inventory financing, credit risk insurance, customer referral services, and private financial and safety depository facilities. It will also open up new marketing opportunities as well as future access ability to other international bourses. New branches of the GEMS BOURSE are being planned for Mae Sod and Chantaburi, furthering an extensive network of business contacts.
Trading floor, financial transactions at the Jewelry trade Center will be aided by a computerized trading board. Buy and sell listings of merchandise will be simultaneously posted at the trading floor and linked to important wholesale buying offices.
Gems lab. The internationally recognized Asian Institute of Gemological Sciences (AIGS) will also operated a gem laboratory in the Jewelry Trade center, and will provide gem identification services and reports.
Special purpose showrooms. A purpose built 1500 square meters showroom will highlight and illustrate the wonders of gems through optical illusions, light phenomena, and special product displays, These presentations will be based on the ETESTS concept providing education through entertainment for science, technology and society.
Customs clearance, postal services, comprehensive banking and insurance facilities are also planned to be on the premises.
The shopping arcade will be one of the most prestigious and luxurious shopping centers in Asia. The developers intend to create the ultimate in luxury and elegance. The more than 250 deluxe retail stores will gather exclusive name brands and up market top quality products from around the world and will include famous international jewelry and gem stores.
Atriums with simulated light controls will illuminate the interior of the Jewelry Trade Center, resulting in an effect reminiscent of a crystal palace.
Restaurants. Over 20 top-class gourmet restaurants will be located on the premises, serving a host of cuisines including Thai, Chinese, Kosher, Japanese, Indian, French, Italian, Korean, Vietnamese, Burmese, Lebanese, and more.
Health club a fully-equipped, ultra-modern health club will be located on the premises, and will include high-tech equipment and facilities as well as sauna and Jacuzzi
Security has naturally been given top priority by the appointment of prominent security consultants who will be responsible for setting up the building’s extensive security system.
Communication systems. The jewelry Trade Center will reach to the heart of international business by providing worldwide telecommunication with more than 2,000 direct telephone lines. The building will also be equipped with a satellite disc in order to efficiently receive the latest international commercial data and news.
Promotion The management is committed to promote this project both in the local and foreign median once the Center has been opened, and will allocate a substantial budget for advertising to ensure that specific target groups are reached and informed. Also much time and effort has gone into developing a strategy for unique promotional activities to capture market niches and to cultivate a strong client base for the building’s tenants.
Parking. Parking for 1,100 cars will be available at the Center.
Construction & completion. Construction due to commence in 1990. First phase is scheduled for completion by late 1993. Completion of the project is scheduled for 1995.
