This issue’s student design feature focuses on pieces designed by Thai women. Previously, design drawings highlighted in JewelSiam have been sketched by male students. Now, the international market can get a glimpse at what the other half creates. The drawings shown here are light and feminine, but set heavily with a variety of stones including pearls, star sapphire and cabochon and cut emerald.

            The design students featured here study at the School of gemological Sciences (SGS) headed by Sumalee Thepsoparn. SGS, located on Mahesak Rd, is also well-known in Bangkok for its gemological school and laboratory.
