The stars were shining and the diamonds were glittering when De Beers helped to organize a charity event geared to aid the Thai Red Cross Society’s organ donation center and to commemorate His Majesty’s 50th anniversary of his accession to the Throne. HRH Princess Soamsavalee and Princess Phattchara presided over the gala event dinner.
The “1996 Diamond as Exceptional as the Woman Who Wears Them” gala dinner was coordinated by DE Beers Diamond Information Center, the Thai Diamond Manufacturers Association (TDMA), Thai Gem and Jewelry Traders Association (TGJTA) and hosted by Dusit Thani Hotel to bring diamond creations from Thai jewelers to the catwalks, for an evening of entertainment, fanfare and fashion.
Part of the evening’s entertainment was provided by Nantida (Kaewbuasai) Asavahem, who sang a mixture of Western and Thai songs. After dinner a spectacular fashion show, with diamond jewelry created Thai jewelers and fashion designs from Pichita Haute Couture’s latest collection, dazzled the crowd.
The evening ended with a De Beers-sponsored prize drawing of 10 diamond rings.
